At the sixth European forum in Bucharest, Romania, from 23 to 24
April 2008, the change in leadership at European level was
finalised.
The focus of the forum was the impact of climate change and
global warming on cities. In addition, there was discussion of the
conclusions to be drawn from the study initiated by the GPH
"Implementing the goals and principles of the Habitat Agenda in the
Legislation of the Federal Republic of Germany, Finland, the
Netherlands, Romania and Turkey during the period 1996-2005".
New elections held during the sixth European forum led to
changes in the leadership of the boards of directors of the GPH and
GPH Europe. Peter Götz (Germany) was unanimously elected to
succeed Senator Eloy Cantú Segovia (Mexico) as President of
the Board of Directors of the Global Parliamentarians on Habitat.
The participating parliamentarians elected Senator Traian
Constantin Igaş (Romania) as president of the board of
directors of GPH Europe. New elections were held for the entire
European board of directors as well.
