The members of the Global
Parliamentarians on Habitat (GPH) meet regularly in different
combinations. The conferences which influence the work of the GPH
the strongest are their Global Forums, Regional Forums and Board
Meetings.
Every few years, the Global Parliamentarians on Habitat organise a
Global
Forum. Parliamentarians from all over the world meet
at these Global Forums in order to discuss current issues and to
develop solutions. These shared solutions and goals are put down in
writing in the form of a Declaration and are carried into national
parliaments by the member parliamentarians. Every two years,
elections for the Board of Directors are held at the Global
Forum.
In addition, the Regional Councils of the GPH periodically organise
Forums for their respective regions (Africa, America, Asia, Europe)
- the so-called
Regional Forums. At these forums, only those
parliamentarians of the region in question attend. This allows the
GPH to set regional priorities.
The
Board Meetings of the Global Parliamentarians
on Habitat are held as necessary. In the Meetings of the World
Board, the steering of the organisation takes place. In the Board
Meetings, counsel on the interests of the GPH is taken and
decisions are made. In the Board Meetings of the Regional Councils,
decisions for the region are made.
The GPH also frequently meet within the framework of events organised by
UN-HABITAT. Recurring conferences are, for example,
the bi-annual World Urban Forum, the bi-annual Governing Council in
Nairobi by UN-HABITAT, or the annual World Habitat Day.
