The Mexican deputy Jose Ramon Lopez Martel was elected as the new President of the American Council of the Global Parliamentarians on Habitat (GPH-America) at the regional forum of the GPH-America on 18 March 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
After a promotion to "Vicecoordinador Parlamentario" of the Mexican Congress, he was forced to resign as president of the GPH-America.
On 30 September 2010, Senator Ricardo Fidel Pacheco Rodriguez, also from Mexico, was appointed new president of the American Council of the Global Parliamentarians on Habitat.
