Consideration of EU documents
Each parliamentary group represented on the Committee on Health has appointed a committee member to serve as its EU rapporteur for the duration of the electoral term. These rapporteurs meet to prepare the ground for the Committee’s consideration of any EU documents on its agenda, and take it in turns to report back to the Committee on the outcome of their preliminary discussions. The aim is to streamline the process of consideration by allowing the Committee to focus solely on those issues which could not be resolved at rapporteur level or which are important to the Committee as a whole.
The following Members of the Bundestag are the Committee on Health’s EU rapporteurs in the 18th electoral term:
- Heiko Schmelzle (CDU/CSU)
- Heike Baehrens (SPD)
- Harald Weinberg (The Left Party)
- Dr. Harald Terpe (Alliance 90/The Greens)
