INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (IPP)
A program organized by the German Bundestag in cooperation with Berlin's universities
Are you involved in the social,
academic or political life of your home country?
Would you like to play an active and responsible part in shaping your country's future?
Would you like to look "behind the scenes" of politics and experience democracy close up?
Then seize this opportunity to take part in a unique program organized by the German Bundestag and Berlin's universities, and apply to participate in the International Parliamentary Internship Program (IPP).
Each year, the German Bundestag, in cooperation with Berlin's universities, offers approximately 100 young people from different countries - currently 21 - a unique opportunity to complete an internship lasting several months in the office of a Member of the German Bundestag, and thus to familiarize themselves with decision-making processes in German politics and gain practical experience in the field of parliamentary work.
The program aims to increase young people's interest in democracy and society, inspire their enthusiasm for democratic life and encourage them to participate in it. The International Parliamentary Internship Program (IPP) is a long-term investment in consolidating democratic values and tolerance, and promoting cultural diversity and peaceful co-existence in Europe.
The following countries are involved in the program: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and the USA.
The IPP program begins on March 1 and lasts for five months in total. The core of the program is a three-and-a-half-month internship in the office of a Member of the Bundestag. Additionally, the scholarship-holders attend preparatory seminars organized by the five political foundations. They also take part in a supplementary academic program organized by Berlin's three universities and the political foundations.
IPP participants receive a monthly grant of 450 euros from the German Bundestag. In addition, the scholarship includes free accommodation, and also covers the cost of health, accident and public liability insurance. The cost of the participants' journeys to and from Berlin will be reimbursed.
Further information about the IPP program and how to apply can be found at www.bundestag.de/ipp.
We warmly invite you to participate in the IPP program, and look forward to your application.
