From 26 to 27 February 2007, the German Bundestag's Committee on Foreign Affairs hosted the Conference of Foreign Affairs Committee Chairpersons. Foreign-policy specialists from the 27 EU Member States, Turkey, Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as well as guests from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, discussed the foreign-policy aims of the German EU Council Presidency, the security and stability of the Western Balkans, and the future of Kosovo, as well as the priorities of the European Security and Defence Policy. The committee chairpersons were joined in their discussions on Europe's current foreign and security-policy agenda by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, German Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Franz Josef Jung, German Minister of Defence, Dr Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the CFSP, and Martti Ahtisaari, UN Special Envoy for the Future Status Process for Kosovo and former head of state.
