In the whole of German history, there is no greater watershed than this day, said the historian Professor Heinrich August Winkler on Friday, 8 May 2015, in his commemorative speech on the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe. The Bundestag and the Bundesrat commemorated the end of the Second World War in a joint Ceremony of Remembrance.
