European policy debates in the German Bundestag
Europe is a major topic in the plenary

Members frequently debate on European policy issues in the plenary. The Federal Government usually delivers a government policy statement before negotiations, such as meetings of the heads of state and government of the Member States of the European Union (European Councils), and then reports on the results in the plenary afterwards.
Furthermore, the German Bundestag ratifies treaties relating to the fundamental organisation of cooperation at the EU level, such as the Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe, or the agreements on the accession of new Members to the EU. The selection of excerpts from minutes of plenary proceedings during the 15th electoral term on this website also includes transcripts of debates on draft bills for the transposition of EU directives and framework legislation into German law.
