As well as working in the committees, Members of the German Bundestag are also involved in other bodies, with remits going beyond deliberation on concrete pieces of legislation and involving preparing the ground for political discussions. Parliament can establish Study Commissions or a parliamentary advisory council to allow wide-ranging examination of questions and developments of particular importance to society. The German Bundestag also forms special control bodies, which allow it to exercise particular rights in scrutinising the work of the government.
