Jakob Kaiser Building
Here we are in the large, bright and airy entrance hall of House 1, the north-west wing of the Jakob Kaiser Building. Behind the glass wall next to the entrance is the historic Reichstag Presidential Palace, created by Reichstag architect Paul Wallot between 1897 and 1904. The long section, which passes under the bridge, ends at the Wilhelmstrasse exit and serves to connect all four houses. The colourful rowing eights are the work of artist Christiane Möbus. With these boats she suggests the proximity of the Spree and the competitive ethos of political life. Behind the rowing eights are the offices of the Parliamentary Services and the Bundestag Presidium, consisting of the President of the Bundestag and four Vice Presidents. |
