Alfred Grosser to speak on the First World War

On 3 July 2014, the German Bundestag will commemorate the beginning of the First World War one hundred years ago. The French political scientist Alfred Grosser has been invited to give a speech to the plenary of the Bundestag. Alfred Grosser was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1925 as the son of German-Jewish parents and emigrated to France after the seizure of power by the National Socialists. The President of the Bundestag, Norbert Lammert, will open the event with introductory remarks. The soprano Anna Prohaska will perform “In Flanders Fields”, written as a poem by John Alexander McCrae, in a musical adaptation by US composer Charles Ives from 1917. She will be accompanied on the piano by Professor Eric Schneider.
