Government and Parliament will, in the main, be housed in buildings located in or around the Spreebogen and Spreeinsel area.

The Bundesbaugesellschaft Berlin has been entrusted with the task of organizing the projects in such a way that the buildings will be ready for occupation at the earliest possible date in the 14^th electoral term (1998 - 2002) - at the latest by the summer of the year 2000. The conversion of the Reichstag Building is to be completed by spring 1999 in time for the election of the next Federal President.
