Scrutiny of elections
According to Article 41 of the Basic Law (and Section 26 of the European Electoral Act), the Bundestag is responsible for scrutinising the validity of elections to the German Bundestag (and - for a transitional period - the election of German Members of the European Parliament). Its decisions are prepared by the Committee for the Scrutiny of Elections, which is formed by the Committee for the Scrutiny of Elections, Immunity and the Rules of Procedure to perform its duties in this field.
Every citizen entitled to vote may initiate a review of the legality of the preparations made for elections, their conduct and the counting of votes. It is possible to appeal to the Federal Constitutional Court against the decision reached by the Bundestag.Further information
