Within the NATO PA, there are the following informal political groups which meet on the fringes of the plenary sessions:- Conservative, Christian Democrat and Associates (Chairman: Dr. Karl A. Lamers, CDU/CSU)

- Rose-Roth Programme: The Rose-Roth programme of cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) enhances the work of the Assembly. The aim of the programme is to assist these countries as they undergo the difficult transition phase which entails far-reaching political and economic reform. Thanks to targeted support across a range of areas (e.g. via seminars and training programmes), the Rose-Roth programme has helped establish relationships based on partnership and cooperation with the parliaments of Central and Eastern Europe. A key focus, in this context, is on democratic control of defence institutions and the armed forces.
