Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection
Whether it is classic legislation on legal policy (e.g. family, copyright or criminal law) or current issues in consumer protection (e.g. the rights of railway passengers, banking practices or the safety of household goods), the 39 members of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection discuss diverse topics that affect all Germany’s citizens, helping to draw up basic legal rules that regulate coexistence in society. The Committee’s work is increasingly dominated by EU legal and consumer protection policy, for neither Internet commerce nor crime halt at national borders. Furthermore, the Committee deliberates on how the German Bundestag should respond to cases brought before the Federal Constitutional Court.
