Committee on the Digital Agenda
For the Committee’s chairman, Jens Koeppen, digitalisation is ‘a breathtaking transformation of our entire society, a far-reaching process of technological, social and cultural change that has penetrated all areas of our lives.’ With the Committee on the Digital Agenda, the German Bundestag now has a permanent parliamentary body dedicated to current issues in Internet policy for the first time. The Committee is intended to discuss the various aspects of digitalisation and networking from interdisciplinary perspectives, and act decisively to determine the direction of digital change. Internet policy is not a ‘niche issue’ as far as the Committee is concerned. Rather, the body sees itself as an important catalyst for the work of parliament as a whole.
