Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety
The Committee on the Environment is concerned with preserving our natural resources. What instruments can we use to combat climate change? What answers do we have to increasingly frequent extreme weather events? How can we preserve biodiversity and use resources more efficiently? Classic environmental topics provide plenty of scope for deliberations: from clean water and air to the recycling system. The agenda also covers the whole spectrum of issues connected with nuclear power. A newly established dedicated commission attached to the committee is examining the question of final disposal of nuclear waste. And further topics have been added to the Committee’s remit in the current electoral term: green towns and cities with a high quality of life, affordable living space and refurbishment of buildings.
